WHAT'S INSIDE A VEGAN'S FRIDGE + WEAR TEST NYX LIQUID LIPSTICK. Recipe below + my vegetarian-vegan journey (summary):
RECIPE VEGAN NACHOS (super easy) Ingredients: tortilla chips, spring mix greens, tomatoes, chili, vegan sour cream, guacamole, cilantro.
Vegan sour cream: 1 cup raw cashews (soak overnight with water, put in fridge). Ultra-blend, mix with little water and little almond milk. Once it's creamy, mix 2 tbsps apple cider vinegar) and squeeze 1 lime (add more apple cider vinegar if you want more kick).
Vegan chili: 1 cup black beans (you can start from scratch or use store-bought), 1 can tomato sauce, 1 cup young jackfruit, 1-2 tbsps cumin powder, dash of ground pepper. Simmer altogether.
Garnish with cilantro, cherry tomatoes, jalapeños. Tbh, I just eyeball ingredients, I don't measure coz it's about adding more or less flavor depending on your taste bud's preference.
MY VEGETARIAN-VEGAN JOURNEY: I have been vegetarian for over 10 years (ovo-lacto), vegan straight for 2 years, went back to vegetarian (ovo, dropped lacto coz I am lactose-intolerant)--- all mainly for health reasons. Very rarely but I do slip (coz self-discipline is more than mind over matter especially when I had friends or family visiting me). This time, I am back to being vegan again (going 3 months as of this writing) for both health and more recently, ethical component. Because of this change, I am also cleaning our household purchases and beauty/skincare choices 'coz what's the sense of going vegan if that aspect is overlooked. It's a lifestyle overhaul especially for the husband (ultimate carnivore turned vegan) but he is enjoying this huge change! I may stumble like most humans, I admit that it's quite a challenge to turn 100% vegan when it comes to makeups and skincare because a lot of products I have enjoyed in the past (although they are cruelty-free) do contain animal by-products. You can ask me about vegan diet but going vegan on beauty is still a gray area for me, I still have lots of research to do. But if there's one thing I have learned about veganism is that it's not about perfection but your commitment to create less harm to the environment most especially to animals.
