Today was not an easy day. Last night my allergies caused high fever, aches, pains, difficulty moving, sneezing, watery eyes, sinus congestion and pressure. This morning it was better but not by much. I prayed and pushed through anyway.

The urge to feel sorry for myself. Woe is me! My life is filled with much sorrow and gnashing of teeth! Because my nose is drippy and my body hurts.

But the new me, knows that I have free will to be thankful and joyful and sorrowful and miserable. AND that things could be worse.

Being thankful, really lifts your spirits even when you don’t feel your best

Ephesians 5:4 (NIV)
Nor should there be obscenity,
foolish talk or coarse joking,
which are out of place,
but rather thanksgiving.

When I thought about it I was really thankful.

Thankful that I was well enough to make it through the day.

Thankful that I have the day off and I don’t have to go to work.

Thankful it’s allergies and not a yucky cold.

Thankful I have medication to help treat the symptoms.

Thankful that I have friends and family to help me out.

Thankful that it is just allergies and not something worse.

Thankful to see a new day

Even when we don’t feel good, there are still so many things to be thankful for.

Psalm 69:30 (NIV)
I will praise God’s name in song
and glorify him with thanksgiving.

Lastly I love what Paul says to the Thessalonians ----------------------------------------------------------------1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV)
give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
