10-4-17 Devotional Diva - keeping the faith
I feel like I’m slipping. I feel …. Lower. I feel Less confident and less productive. Negative thoughts rattle around in my head longer before I notice them. While I was praying about it, I realized that I am not praying or reading the bible as much and I can feel the difference in my soul.
Normally I spend an hour or two researching scriptures for Devotional Diva. In that time I am constantly in the Word. Not lately. Lately they’ve been just a few verses I found in a few minutes.
I don’t want to fall back into the habit of “I don’t have time for God” But when I didn’t spend time praising and reading the word, my time was taken by worry and negative thoughts and I was less productive that when I spent the time reading, praising and talking with God.
It was amazing how productive and energetic I was before. Even my family noticed the big difference. Now my mom notices that I am not as joyful.

I just want to share my struggles and see if anyone else feels the same way?
Psalm 119:105 (NIV)
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Even tonight I thought about skipping Devotional Diva tonight because I have a fever, I’m achy, sore and with the usual runny nose, itchy throat, watery eyes. I figured God would understand. Plus, I am not sure anyone is watching anyway.
Then I remembered that I don’t do this for “insta-fame” with tons of followers and likes. I do this because God asked me to. And that doing Devotional Diva means I read the Word for at least an hour daily and examine my own motives and shortcomings without judging or belittling myself. Examining my heart so I can give ask for forgiveness and give it over to God.

Hebrews 4:12 (NIV)
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Proverbs 30:5(NKJV)
Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.
----------------------------------------------------------------
I was beginning to try to carry by burdens alone, and I don’t want to go back to that sad, angry, lonely place of ignoring God so I can do it myself.
I’ve read this one before but I believe it bears repeating. If for no other reason to remind myself.

Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

May your burdens be light
