Devotional Diva - Questioning God's Direction in Our Lives & How I Rock My Frohawk
Have you ever asked God to give you a sign about something he has put on you heart?
Have you tested that what you think is God’s will, is actually him and not your own vanity?
I’ve recently been reading the devotional
Empowered, by Kennetra A. Bryant, Ed.D, on the YouVersion Bible App https://www.bible.com/en-GB/reading-plans/2712-empowered
Dr. Bryant takes us through Gideon’s doubts and fears about what God has called him to do. I highly recommend this devotional!
I can feel Gideon’s hesitation. I wasn’t asked to lead a nation of chosen people, but I have my doubts about posting spiritual videos on youtube.
I worried…
What will my friends, family and coworkers think?
Will they not want to talk to me because they think I talk about God too much?
Will I loose the handful of friends and followers that I have?
Will people think I am just weird?
Who am I to talk to people about God?
Gideon is like, "Yo God, I think you got the wrong dude, Bruh. We are so beat down by the Midianites, that I have to hide in a cave to do basic chores. You are scraping the bottom of the barrel by choosing me over the others in my family. "(This is my interpretation... I think Gideon would totally say "Yo!")
God keeps reassuring Gideon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Judges 6:14 (NIV)
The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
Even after this, Gideon still ask God for more signs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Judges 6:15 (NIV)
“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”
God and Gideon go back and forth for a while in Judges 6. It’s worth the read. You should totally go read the whole thing
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Judges 6:39 (NIV)
Then Gideon said to God, “Do not be angry with me. Let me make just one more request. Allow me one more test with the fleece, but this time make the fleece dry and let the ground be covered with dew.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Judges 6:40 (NIV)
That night God did so. Only the fleece was dry; all the ground was covered with dew.
That was FINALLY good enough for Gideon. Whew! Well... almost there is still more but we can talk about that another time. Better yet, go read it for yourself.

God put it on my heart to do these videos and I prayed about it for a few months and asked God for a sign.
Have you ever asked God for a sign? If so, what happened? If not, why not?
What’s going on in your life? Do you have prayer request or praise reports. I want to hear from you!
