In my efforts to have as many colors in my hair and makeup as possible, I decided I wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to do a monochromatic series, using only shades of the main color, and having the looks be as different as possible from each other. Some will be wearable, some not so much, but the point is to explore the depths of color, and push myself a little farther as an artist. And as clinical as that sounds, I'm so stoked to do this.

Black Graphic Eyeliner
So why did I decide to start with a black graphic eyeliner look? Well, for one, I'm crap at graphic eyeliner so the challenge was one I couldn't resist. Also, I felt like doing a black smokey eye was kind of what people would first think of when it comes to a monochromatic look with black. Trying to think outside the box here! Also, black is a classic color. Lisa Eldridge had a whole section of her book Face Paint dedicated to how important black is to the beauty world throughout the ages. From the Geisha's of old to the Hollywood starlets of the 50's, even to the iconic smokey eye look, black is super important. That, and I'd love to see someone try to take away my black eyeliner. Not gonna happen.
