Gluttony, thy name is All-You-Can-Eat Buffet

Matthew 4:4 NIV
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

Unfortunately I ate a little more than bread today. I went to an all you can eat buffet.
Everytime I go there I tell myself that I am only going to eat a little but by the end I am stuffed and miserable. Begging God’s forgiveness for mistreating my body that way.

Luke 12:23 ESV
For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.

So Why do I loose my mind at the buffet? I don’t know. I think they pump something in the air that makes people go into a feeding frenzy, like sharks. Before you know it you’ve eaten all the sesame honey chicken, a tire and you taken a bite out of the waiters tray when he tries to take the empty plates away.

1 Corinthians 6:12 (NIV)
12 “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.

I know this verse talks about sexual immorality but I feel like it can apply to food or drugs.

Philippians 3:19 NIV
19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things.

20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,

21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.


1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV)
19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Please pray for me to do better next time and limit myself to a 1 plate max…. With a dessert… gotta have dessert.
