For my second installment in this series, I’m coming home to Barbados. The Heartman is a boogeyman that Bajan kids are told about when they’re young. He is peculiar to Barbados, and in recent years he has earned favour with young story tellers who have rescued him from almost disappearing from our folklore forever. All we know about how he looks from the old stories is that he’s usually very well dressed. Younger storytellers get to reimagine and describe him. But I want to know what the monster who rips out kids’ hearts looks like out of his “normal” clothes.

This shoot was a blast. Kiru was such a sport, and the students had a great time. Risee is, as always, amazing for donating her time, and these shots came out better than I dared to dream.
Stay tuned for the next video!
