This bag had been in the making since November of last year. I wanted to create another mural bag. Growing up my mother always lit Virgin Mary candles. She was a constant presence in our home. I was heavily influenced by the beautiful embroidery work of the Mexican artisans I encountered on my last trip to Mexico.

I was also inspired by Christian Louboutin’s Mexicaba bags. A bag I have wanted since it’s debut but is sold out everywhere. I knew I would create my own version with the use of a serape inspired tote and patches of the Virgin Mary, cherubs, hearts and the immaculate heart. None of these pieces came together. I had to piece each one like a puzzle. It’s my favorite part of design! I hope you enjoyed this DIY.
