HELPFUL TIPS:
* I prefer hot glue for all my crafts, BUT it will not last for most plastic and metal projects. If you’re not crafting for fun like me, extend the life of your DIYS by using industrial strength glue.
* If using a lighter and/or candle, proceed with caution! Do not keep the flame in the same spot, it will burn. Do not put plastic bottle directly over flame, tilt to the side. Use gloves when doing this to avoid being burned.
* You can use a clothing iron on the rough plastic edges, for a smooth finish
* hot glue a a small circle of cardboard inside the lantern to hold a candle.
* NO FLAME CANDLES IN THESE LANTERNS
* Let the glue and paper mix, dry fully before painting
* Go to Hobby lobby (or check Amazon, Etsy, etc) and buy in bulk for gems, beads and pearls! Buying at Dollar Tree isn’t always the cheapest option. MATERIALS (From Dollar Tree, see exceptions):
2 Plastic bottle 8” or so
X-acto knife and scissors
Lighter and candle * Adults only, please use caution!!
White glue (1 TBS) or so + splash of water
Toilet paper
Paint brush or sponge
Silver and blue metallic paint
blue diamond wrap
silver adhesive diamond wrap sheet
Green tear drop shaped gems (found mainly during Christmas)
gems in clear, green, and yellow
silver beaded necklace
Wire
Pliers
Mirror mosaic tiles stickers
something sharp for making an opening
Hot Glue
*optional* metallic serving platter and puncher. If you have a larger circle punchers in your craft stash, use it or different shapes like squares or triangles.
