I want to make it a point to start doing more Foundation Wear Tests, where I start with my morning routine, and show you how a foundation progresses throughout the day. Most importantly I want to celebrate and seek out brands who have an inclusive shade range. I'm revisiting an old favorite foundation that I recently re-discovered. I feel I've discovered the trick to MAC Studio Fix Fluid is is simply use less. Maybe for some that seems obvious, but since I used to be a bit more heavy-handed, this really helped me get the look that I wanted. For years I've recommended MAC foundations because they've had an inclusive shade range, and because I've always liked the way they looked. I've noticed SFF doesn't dry as fast as newer matte foundation formulas, and that little bit of extra dry down gives me time to spread and blend the foundation until it looks like a second skin, not mask-like or cakey. The initial finish is soft-matte, and barely needs to be set, In fact many times when I use it IRL I don't set it until my mid-day touch up. When I do set it it's usually with a very fine pressed powder like the two I feature in this video- one high-end one drugstore. As show in the video, about 6 hours in this did give me a little glow, which I think looks kinda nice. A little blotting powder, a quick dusting of powder and I was like new! If you have oilier skin, you'll want to use an oil-absorbing primer, a more absorbent setting powder, or blot every 4 hours. (or all three, do what you gotta do). Likewise if you skin is very dry, something like Embryolisse Lait Creme or your favorite hydrating primer will work brilliantly.
SFF is also one of my favorite foundations for layering coverage. on days I need or want more of a flawless face I will apply the foundation exactly as I show in this video, but after setting I will use a foundation power such as MSFN or Serenity Scott's powder Foundation.
This foundation comes in 42 glorious colors, and it seems like MAC is frequently adding to the range- when I first started buying it my current color didn't exist and I used NC15 instead. Now I wear NW13. My only caveat for this foundation is that it comes with a twist off-cap and you have to buy the pump separate. No Bueno.
I want to make daylong foundation wear tests a hallmark of my channel this year, so what foundation do you think I should do next? take the poll in the upper right corner to let me know if your skin is dry, oily, combo or normal.
