Truth Behind Sponsorships in Social Media: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
In this video we wanted to talk about what goes on behind sponsorships, in our experience. There are many ways to find great sponsors and get paid by the brands. But, there are just as many ways to get scammed by the sponsors, brands, and Advertising agencies (PR firms). Even worse, there are many ways to become a sell out and loose value and relevance to the audience. Getting paid by sponsors (and or collaborating with a brand) is not as important as the image of creators brand.
Content creators have to understand what value they want to bring to the audience (world) and stick to those values. Copyrights protect creators values, voice, and face. Copyrights are there to protect the creator legally and they have to be protected vigorously because many brands will try to take them away from creators more times than one might think. Creator is responsible to understand the legal contracts and never depend on sponsor/brand/advertising agency to explain the contract. Ultimately creator has to find brands with great values, which will result in win/win/win to audience/creators/brands.
