Fear results in not having enough of someone, and that's Jesus. If you don't have enough Jesus, you also probably have too much pride. Ultimately, it's not that you need more of Jesus, but less of yourself. You've got to be vulnerable and admit, Lord I crave you, I need you, and I can't do this alone.
Too much fear then of course leads to anxiety and stress, which can spiral into depression and sickness if you don't shine light on it. Sin grows in the darkness and that's where Satan thrives, but sin is defeated in the light where God is glorified and people are vulnerable and authentic, loving others so well.
Once you've realized who your creator is and what you were created for, you are going to crave a relationship with Jesus and knowledge of him. You were created to worship and know Jesus, to have a relationship with him. God casts our fear in his perfect love,
1 John 4:18 "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love."
Through knowing Jesus and cultivating a relationship with him, you will pour out his love in all areas of your life. When you have a relationship with Jesus, you're aware of the love he has for you and it encompasses you. You'll love others well and people will be able to see Jesus through the way you live your life and the way you treat them. Having a relationship with Jesus and experiencing his love resurrects people from death to life.
When in fear, a great thing to do is calm yourself down with truth from the word and pray. Prayer is so important all the time, but especially when you're confused, fearful, or anxious. I have memorized a few verses on fear and anxiety so that I can repeat them to myself when I am in panic. Some of my favorites are:
Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
The lord himself commands us not to fear. Pray for wisdom, more patience & less pride, that the power of the holy spirit would work through you, for God to transform your life, and being a light to others. Share your experiences with God (your testimony) and the greatest act of love in history. God gives us a purpose bigger than ourselves, and with that the ability to overcome anything. People feel comfortable in the vulnerability of others. Your confidence is God's confidence.
Are you living in fear or anxiety and ignoring Jesus? Be honest with yourself and face the facts. It's not a coincidence that you're reading this, God is trying to communicate with you.. whatever fear you're living in. Ask for God's help,
Philippians 1:6 "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
If this post resonated with you in any way or God spoke to you, please let me know. I strive to live my life in a way that glorifies Jesus and shines his light through loving others well and sharing my story. Thank you so much for reading and I hope you have a fabulous week!
