Let's say you love singing, and you’re at the wedding of your fiend. The bride comes to you really stressed out and she says the singer got sick, and can’t come. And she says you sing so nicely, come up and sing a song for our first dance! Please. And you would love to, but fear gets in your way. What if people will hate it, what if you sing a note wrong or off key, what if you ruin your best friends first dance?

Turn this fear into excitement. Go on that stage. What is the worst case scenario? So you might hit the wrong note, but if you do it with all your passion, all your heart people will love it! Think of the BEST case scenario! How happy will your friend be? Maybe people will encourage you to purse a singing career. You need a new mindset to beat fear of failure. Mel Robins has a book called "5 Second Rule", which I mention a lot - thats because it is such a simple technique. When you’re asked to go on that stage, your fight or flight will activate, and even though your initial response was "Yeah! I want to!" the fight or flight made you panic and say "no". So you need to avoid the fight or flight, which is activated in your reptilian brain, and you need to activate your prefrontal cortex, the rational brain. To do that, you simply count backwards 5 4 3 2 1 and you say "yes". You tricked yourself. Its a very easy trick, very simple trick and very powerful one.
