So for today’s video I have this modern version of Elizabeth Taylor’s Cleopatra inspired by Katy Perry in her music video for “Dark Horse”. I spent a lot of time and hours on this look with planning and preparation. First: I wanted to know exactly what the character was going to look like, so I decided to do a full painting. I drew this a few weeks ago and then painted it with watercolor. The eyes were mainly inspired by Elizabeth’s makeup in that movie. There are a few modern twists on this as well. I took the modern gold and glittery costume pieces idea from Katy Perry. I wanted the colors of gold and blue to be traditional, but the glitter to be modern. In the old Cleopatra movie there is this stunning headdress thing that she wears that looks like feathers/leaves so I decided to make this bra/boob cover thing. Got the idea to make it a front-only thing from this sticky-bra that I recently got (from JC Penny). It sticks to your books and eliminates all straps and is really comfortable. Just FIY I would not suggest to use masking tape in any real world application for the bra piece, it was all to make a joke in the video. I would actually get a front-only bra and then use actual fashion tape to stick it to yourself/the front-only bra. A couple of modern twists that I put on this besides all of the glitter, was a snake bite piecing. Supposedly Cleo committed suicide via poisonous snake bit, so I thought that I was really clever with putting a “snake bite” piecing. :P The other thing was the idea of a tattoo sleeve of hieroglyphics. I will say this now that I cannot read hieroglyphics, but according to some charts and pictures from the internet, from the half circle to the last bird spells my name “Tania” and I put the watchful eye because I like the way that it looks. It may or may not mean that I am watching you!!! :P If I were actually going to wear this to a costume party, I would also make some sort of wrap skirt or toga to wrap up the rest of my body. I am actually not so much into showing that much skin, so this took a lot of courage for me to go. Anyways, I think that that is all that I really needed to tell y’all. I really hope that y’all enjoyed, I know that it was a bit long, but there was so much to show. Please let me know if y’all have any further questions about anything! And please refer to the products list and links below first, thank you! :D
