My top tips for clothing/clothes shopping
- pay attention to price tags and promotions, know when they are just tricking you into spending more or if you really want 2 or more of something
- know return and exchange policies, especially when you might reconsider your purchase
- keep receipts, price tags, shoe boxes and original product packaging
- try everything on, whether you do it in the fitting room or at home
- move around in the clothes you try one to make sure they are comfortable
- take selfies in the fitting room, you can use them to ask for second opinions if you are shopping alone too (via social media or private messaging)
- wear appropriate undergarments when you go shopping ex: strapless bra for strapless dress shopping, or try a dress on with a pair of in store heels even if you aren't planning on buying the heels.
- when you buy a piece, have an occasion to wear it to or an idea of what you will be wearing it with
- keep a wardrobe inventory or look through your closet the night before you go shopping
- careful WHO you shop with; bring someone's who's opinion you trust
- shop when the stores are dead; i.e. mornings and weekday evenings.
