Gator in my Pool in Tampa, FL

Last night around 3am I walked by my pool (inside my screened in lanai) and let Phaedra out to the backyard to go to the bathroom. I noticed that the pool was wet around the edges, like someone had gotten in and out of it. I saw a quick flash of reptilian green skin. I got Phaedra inside, grabbed a flashlight and turned on the floodlight.

I noticed that the pool was wet around the edges, like someone had gotten in and out of it. I saw a quick flash of reptilian green skin. I got Phaedra inside, grabbed a flashlight and turned on the floodlight.

Inside my pool I found a large gator. I called Wildlife Control and they showed up around 4:30 am to remove him. We later measured him and he was 6 feet 4 inches long. He would have made a quick meal of my pug Max and could have really hurt my standard poodle Phaedra.

They said they would relocate him to a farm in Polk County. While this isn't the first gator I've had show up at my home in Florida, it was the first that crawled through the doggie door between the back yard and the lanai and went into my pool.

In the video, I'm holding the camera and Dave is standing next to me, you can't really hear what the Wildlife Control trappers are saying.
