Heyo! Since Lunar New Year is coming up in February, I decided to do a Lunar New Year makeup look in honor of it ^_^ Most people know it as Chinese New Year, but this holiday is actually celebrated by many Asian cultures, and how it is celebrated differs by region. So...I hope you enjoy! Make sure to like & leave a comment down below too!

For this makeup, I didn't create anything inspired by Chinese New Year because...well, I'm not Chinese. I'm not familiar with it at all. I am from South Korea though and I'm pretty familiar with its New Year, called Seollal 설날. Seollal is kind of like a birthday because we age one year when it happens.
For this look I wanted to create something different because typically you usually wear hanbok and very simple makeup. I'm sure if I wore this makeup around my relatives I would get murdered lol.
So instead I tried to create something that best represented my culture, using traditional Korean colors such as yellow, blue, red, black, and white, and also doing a modern twist on a traditional mask called Punae.
When I was a kid there was a display box that showed popular traditional masks in my house. One of them was Punae...I always favored it a lot, and the mask is supposed to be representative of ideal beauty from way back when. So perfect subject for a makeup channel eh? :3
You can learn more about Punae here→ http://blog.korea.net/?p=13350
Now off to work on my Medusa headpiece - hopefully there will be a new Mythology look up next week! ^_^
