ABOUT THE SERIES ↓
The Makeup of the Zodiac Series is my first makeup series where I create extreme, theatrical looks of each sign based on my personal interpretation of the sign's characteristics and symbolism. These looks will not follow the typical interpretations people have done in the past (i.e.; many people do a mermaid look for Pisces, but I don't want to do that). I try to upload a new look once per month.
ABOUT LIBRA
Once again...it's a makeup look meant to look like a painting. For Pisces, I created a makeup look based on watercolor paintings, but for Libra I went for oil paintings instead. I've been looking at a lot of oil paintings lately and paint oil landscapes myself, and since oil paintings have a different look and texture, I thought it would be an interesting experiment.
Libra is ruled by Venus, which, among ohter things, rules beauty and art. However, art associated with Libra tends to be very conventional, safe, and not too zany, since Libra tends to have those qualities. So referencing some oil paintings, I made myself into an oil portrait. I used Ben Nye color wheels since the colors are super thin and easy to blend and layer; I also chose the Mehron Clown White Lite because it's thicker and helps create texture to the look. Also, since oil takes freaking forever to dry I didn't set this easier. It also makes it easier for me to manipulate the face paints with my bare fingers. Using my bare fingers to pat the colors also create another subtle texture.
So that's why I did Libra this way ^_^
NEXT WEEK...is not Scorpio. I need more time to make props, whoops. Scorpio is my sign so I plan to make it a pretty epic one :D But next week I will be doing a Q&A and perhaps a video talking about the direction of this channel.
Have more stuff in store for February! Hope you like!
