3. Basic items you should have in your kit include:
Tweezers and small scissors
Disposable razors
Lash Curler
Cosmetic Spatula
Eye Seal (I use Make Up For Ever)
Hand Sanitizer
Alcohol
Brush Cleaner
Tissues
Makeup remover and remover wipes
Moisturizer
Lash adhesive
Cotton swabs and cotton rounds
Double barrel pencil sharpener

4. For foundation, primer, and powder, I recommend these 5 items as a start:
RCMA Foundation Palettes
Veil Sunset Light Primer
Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer
NYX Banana HD Pressed Powder
HD Powder

5. For color, I recommend palettes. These should be based on your desired path as a makeup artist. A bridal kit will look different than a SFX kit, for example. The Anastasia Brow Palette is a favorite, and it's always good to have a nude palette and a color palette. The sky's the limit here!

6. For carrying your makeup, it's good to have an appropriate-sized kit. Some people prefer ZUCA bags (great if you live in the city and take public transportation) or the large Stilazzi makeup cases (great for places you're driving to. It's bulky but holds EVERYTHING), but most often I carry a large sized set bag: http://stilazzi.com/stilazzi-pro-set-bag-large.html -- Set bags usually hold everything I need for a day on set.
