Why are people so negative these days? I've noticed in the last year negativity has reached a fever pitch and we need to acknowledge this human ugliness and learn to move past the need to criticize one another. We're in a place where we feed off negativity, and challenge each other to be nastier and nastier. Constructive criticism is one thing, it's usually coming from a good place. A good rule of thumb- if you feel the need to say "no offense" or "just my opinion" maybe rethink it, or find a kinder way to express yourself. While I'd never want to stifle someone, filtering yourself is good, it can stop you from saying something you'll regret. That doesn't mean never sharing your opinions, but being mindful of what you're putting out there, because freedom of speech isn't a license to be an asshole. You're accountable for what you say, so make your words count. Furthermore, if people are constantly tearing you down, and making you feel bad- dude I totally understand. I've been bullied privately, and as a public persona. You want to believe in sticks and stones and all that but the truth is words do hurt. Sometimes you have to cut the cord and eliminate toxic people. It's scary. I believe it's none of my business what other people think of me, and it's not their business to share unless I ask.
