Hi everyone! Today's video is about how to create a simple, easy scar for cosplay or Halloween. This is actually a recreation of a video I made 3 yrs ago about how to create Squall's scar from Final Fantasy 8. This is the same basic process, I just wanted to film a better quality version of it ^_^

Hi everyone! Today's video is about how to create a simple, easy scar for cosplay or Halloween. This is actually a recreation of a video I made 3 yrs ago about how to create Squall's scar from Final Fantasy 8. This is the same basic process, I just wanted to film a better quality version of it ^_^
If you want to make Squall's scar realistically, just follow these steps but reverse the angle of the scar. My other eye was really sensitive during filming so that's why the scar is reversed.
PLEASE make sure to read everything down below as this tutorial uses a product called rigid collodion. It creates scars very easily but must be used properly. Failing to do so could damage your skin, your eyes, etc. Remember safety is VERY important when doing SFX makeup.

♫ ♥¸.•*´ How to Use Rigid Collodion ♫ ♥¸.•*´
Rigid collodion is a clear liquid that, when applied to the skin, temporarily puckers the skin underneath. This effect intensifies as you add more layers of this, making it ideal for creating quick, simple scars and indentations on the skin.
To use, apply this over the skin, prferably over the "softer" areas of your skin. This means like your cheeks, for instance.
Rigid collodion contains pyroxylin, a flammable substance. Because it can be dangerous, you need to follow these safety precautions:
→ Obviously, because it's flammable, keep it away from an open flame.
→ Make sure your working area is well ventilated. You don't want to breathe this stuff in. I had a fan turned on in my room and opened all of the windows while filming.
→ Do not place this inside your nose, on your lips, or on the delicate skin around your eyes. It is not safe for these areas. In this video I only added the collodion down to my nose bridge. Even though the scar extends to my eye area, I didn't apply the collodion there.
→ Do not use this repeatedly on you skin several days in a row. You risk actually scarring your skin that way. This should be used sparingly on your skin. A SFX artist told me people who use it should wait at least 3-4 days before trying to apply the collodion in the same area.
→ To remove it I use spirit gum remover. Massage it gently onto the scar and this will cause the collodion to "lift" off the skin, making it safe for removal. Never never never try to rip or peel this off of your skin without using that first because you risk damaging your skin this way. Trust me...you will regret it.
Anyways, stay safe and if you have any questions leave them down below :D See you next week!
