Bonnaroo is a music and art festival in Manchester, Tennessee. This was my very first time and I am SO glad that I went! I never expected it to change me in the way that it did. Every morning, I woke up to a beautiful forest with my friends and happy, positive people all around me. Every night, I danced free as a bird to music that made my ears happy. I slept in a tent and practically lived off of $1 grilled cheeses. I pranced around in a water fountain, saw tons of jaw dropping art, met lots of new people, and even got to see, not one.. but TWO couples get married!! Everyone high fived each other and was generous and kind. I felt surrounded by love! When I looked around at the people at this festival... I saw so much difference, yet so much similarity. I knew we were connected, but I finally understood it first hand. People dressed how they wanted and danced how they wanted... There were women with nothing but body paint and men who wore skirts. This place was filled with every type of person in between. I've always been self conscience about how I looked without makeup and about my small chest. For the first time in my life, I didn't care what anyone thought. I didn't wear makeup, I didn't wear a bra, and I had no service, so I couldn't use my phone. I felt more free and more beautiful in my skin than I ever have. Leaving this wonderful place, where I felt like I belonged, made me cry. As I walked away from Centeroo for the last time and glanced back at all of these people and this amazing world, I started to feel tears stream down my face. I already can't wait for next summer, so I can come back to this wonderful place again. If you have never been to Bonnaroo, I highly suggest you plan a trip next year, because it's like nothing I've ever experienced. Thank you to my friends Lexie for talking so much about it all those times, getting me excited to go and making sure it happened. And thank you Bonnaroo for one of the greatest experiences of my life! The memories I made here will last forever and taught me more than I ever knew was possible.
