Has anyone dyed their hair a deep black using those two? If so was it successful and were there any drawbacks?

I don't know about indigo but henna is very bad for the hair. With constant use it'll just make your dry and brittle. basically coats the hair n sits on d cuticle so if you want to do any other treatments it makes it difficult to do so.

Oh wow , I had no idea. I just happened to see where people mixed it with indigo for a natural dye. Thanks for the info Drishya!

No it doesn't. I use henna and my hair loves it.

I've never used indigo because I can't buy it in stores and I'm too lazy to buy in online lol but I would, you just apply the henna treatment rinse then do the indigo. If you mix them, you'll get a brownish color since the henna has a red tint.

It doesn't coat the cuticle, it basically binds with the hair. I've had no problems. The only drawback would be if you plan on lighting your hair in the future (like bleaching it blond) it'll make it more difficult

Thanks Nala. I'm the same way with buying online lol. Did you experience a change in your hair texture with the henna?

I used both together to try and get a brown I ended up putting more henna then indigo and it turned a reddish light brown but straight indigo makes your hair blue black and if you mix the two you add more indigo to make it darker and your hair will feel amazing after

But you can't bleach your hair after indigo without it turning green

It loosened my curls slightly but in a good way. My hair was very kinky and it loosened so it's more of a kinky curl vs just kinky.

If you live in a big city you probably can find it in an Indian store. I get my henna from an Indian store, but sadly they don't sell indigo there too,

You have to be careful using henna. Many henna preparations use metallic salts that remain in the hair and will cause wildly unpredictable results should you try to change the color later. Many professionals refuse to do anything to henna-treated hair because it is so unpredictable and damaging to try and remove it.
Because of this, you are pretty much stuck with it until it grows out completely-- so make sure you are committed to it.
