Alright you all seem to know everything about dyeing/bleaching hair =). I was considering trying to go blonde but I'm wanting to know the best method to do so and if I could even pull it off. I have pretty healthy (though its kinda fine) dark brown hair that naturally has red highlights. Is it possible to get a decent blonde color on me, and how would I go about it? Obviously I would go to a salon I just wanted to get an idea of the process.

Make sure you go to somewhere that you trust to get it done. And I agree with Renay.

Thanks ladies. Y'all are so sweet. Do you know how long the process would take? I assume its going to take at least a few appointments.

Be careful n be prepared to do some serious damage control - when it's done properly it's great but if cheap products are involved it will often leave your hair extremely damaged and you may have to grow out all the blonde n cut it all out to get the damage out - so go for it but be careful n opt for a drop conditioning treatment right after it.

I would say they'd apply 30vol bleach to your hair, if it comes out orange they'll tone it to make it more of an ashy colour, tell you to come back in a month and do the bleaching process again, and again tone it. If your hair comes out a yellow colour after the first bleach instead of orange you may only have to make one trip. :)
