So I bought 'Not your mothers sea salt spray' all it does is make my hair look ratty, and then makes it smell good!
Is there any way I can make this work?

Braid it and spray it in.

Spray it lightly, comb through and scrunch.

Also it only works if you have done sort of natural wave or curl to your hair. If you have pin straight hair it's not going to do anything

I do this trick with my straighter where I flip it back and forth going down creating a subtle wave and I spray the not your mothers sea salt spray and it makes it look wavy and textured and really cute all day. maybe it might not like your hair? but that's how I use it.

I'd try spraying your hair and then braiding it and spray it in again. They also have a texture cream and a shampoo/conditioner in the sea salt line, the texture cream might do a bit more for you than the spray. Also make sure you're really scrunching it in there.
