I really want some high quality body and face paint for summer. I have used my normal paints but they flake off the skin and some of the colors are toxic.

I would prefer a palette that is easy to carry around. But quality is my biggest concern since there is nothing like spending hours with paint just won't work the way you want it to lol.

Any brand suggestions and where to buy would be greatly appreciated! :-)

Are you using it on yourself or others?

I'm using PAX body paint for a convention and I'm pretty sure that stuff isn't coming off at all without the remover and a lot of scrubbing.

Myself and others, just for me and my friends really.

And I know some Homestuck cosplayers use this stuff:

Pax might be good since I already have a pile of high quality acrylic to use with it. How well does the Pax blend and do fine detail?

I know that Mehron Paradise paint works really well for body paint because it's water based so it won't irritate your skin and shouldn't make anyone break out.(:

Madeyewlook on YouTube uses Mehron so you can see how well they perform.

Pax can be tricky to work with in my opinion. We had to make and use it in effects school and I always found it to be very thick. It's also very sticky because to make it you add medical adhesive (prosaide) to it. Removing it is horrible. Each time I had a prosthetic applied for finals, it took days to come off and that was just the tiniest amount needed. I really cannot stand it personally lol. Scrubbing it off never helped either, I would stick wake up with fuzz from my pillows/blankets stuck to me. I would definitely go with any of what Jacqueline suggested. Mehron has nice body paints and the paradise palettes are similar to another type of palette made by Wolfe Brothers. All of them are water activated, non-sticky and shouldn't flake off. Mehron also makes a barrier spray to hold the paint in place longer. Ben Nye makes something similar I believe. With water based paints you can blend them easily (think water colors), and thin them as much as you need to get a consistency that's easier to work with. I don't know the exact prices of any of them but Wolfe Bros has it so you can get a small palette of shades that pop out as well as bigger individual jars that stack together. Mehron is a bit on the cheaper side I want to say though. Goldiestarling has videos where she uses the Paradise palettes from Mehron (there's a few but off the top of my head look for her Ursula Halloween tutorial.) and KMnomokis uses Mehron's body paints in basically all of her cosplay tutorials so you can see those in action there :)

I really like the Kryolan Aquacolors. I use Mehron Barrier Spray, then Kryolan Aquacolors, e.l.f. HD Powder, then Mehron Barrier Spray again to seal it all. Lasts through sweat, touching things, etc. for hours, and gives you a lot of versatility. You can buy the cheaper "refill" pans and make your own palette with colors you like. The small size is generally more than enough; I painted about 80% of my body opaque green and barely made a dent in my little pan.

PAX is really heavy duty and really awful for your skin. It is extremely difficult to remove, even with adhesive remover.

If you are looking for something completely waterproof, alcohol-activated makeup is your best bet. Skin Illustrator makes fantastic alcohol palettes, though this option is a little pricy.
