I really like Sephora's brushes. BH Cosmetics and Coastal Scents are also good and really affordable.

If your really strapped, try ELF brushes at Target, just to start out with your basic need of brushes until you can go to the next level.

Personally I would not waste my money on Elf, I know they are 1-3$ but they are made and feel like 1-3$.
