Last night I went on a police ride-a-long when a call came in about doing a wellness check. Arrived to the house and everything looked fine from the outside. The person that the officer was requested to check up on was a woman in her mid 40's...she had limited mobility due to a hip injury. Inside the house I could see why the wellness check was requested. The inside of her house looked like Sephora, Sallys Beauty and ULTA combined. Boxes upon boxes of makeup, hair products/accessories, perfumes, body lotions. My eyes bugged out!! Every single room filled with stuff we would go gaga over.
Some of us beauties receive grief about our collections from friends and family but if they saw what I saw they would change their opinion real quick. I couldn't take pics due to privacy but the image is ingrained in my mind. And what led her to hoard was a sad story to hear too. While we shop to relieve stress or to just perk up our day there are beauties with far serious issues than what many of us deal with.

I met a lady one time that was like that with clothes, shoes, and handbags. It's sad but you never know what someone is going thru and why.

So true Sevetria. And if you saw her on the street you would never think...very well put together and she had a sense of humor.

Insane... Obsessions are merely unhealthy, and it all depends on the person to admit to it.

That's very sad , I watch that show hoarders and it's unbelievable to me.

So very sad. I hope she was alright aside from hoarding. I agree, Shelley; an experience such as this truly puts one's own life in perspective.
Traci, that show is gut wrenching. So much pain and self-neglect. :(

It was super sad. Officer said that he plans on visiting her often just to keep an eye out on her. If it gets worse where cleaniness becomes an issue in the bathrooms and kitchen he will have to report her to the city. When my time with the officer ended this morning I was so tempted to go back and give her a hug. She didn't want us to leave...very lonely woman. :(

Loneliness is the devil...
seriously tho, our world promotes selfishness n that in the end leads to loneliness. its so important to stay humble n rem whatever bad things happen could b worst n to focus on making others happy.. it doesn't take away sadness but I think helping others n staying true to that really helps staying away from the loneliness. loneliness leads to so many bad things..
that poor lady, I hope someone can reach her.
