Go to a podiatrist, which is a specialist in feet. They remove ingrown tonsils so much better than normal doctors. I went to one a few years ago for the ingrown nails on both my feet. The numbing shot that they used hurt like a mother, but after the local anesthetic kicked in I could not feel. One. Single. Thing. They then cauterized (burned) the nail with chemicals so it wouldn't grow back, ever. Then they bandaged me up and sent me on my way. I did get a fever because the infection in my toes had been there for so long and had been removed, but I was fine in about a day. The recovery time was about a week, and it was very painful the first day when the anesthetic wore off, but it hasn't ever grown back, so it's worth it for sure. 😊

I agree with the ladies. A podiatrist is your best bet. He will give you info on how to reduce your chances of getting future ingrowns as well as treat or remove the ones you currently have.b.

I normally take clippers n clip some of the skin n get the nail out myself. But I've been doin it for years. I'd ask a doctor.

Go to a foot specialist! I got this done about 4 years ago when I was around 14, it was the best thing ever after! I used to be in so much pain but they've been fine since then :) my doctor gave me a tiny injection in each of my big toes to numb the area so I couldn't feel anything, cut off a small bit of the toenail and bandaged me up! I'd bring flipflops if I were you for the bandages :P.

The surgery shouldn't be too bad. I almost had to have on both toes after going to a sketchy nail salon. They basically give a few numbing shots to the actual toe, and perform the precedure. After the shots, it will be super easy and you won't feel a thing. In the meantime, soak your toe in water with epsom salts for 20 mins as often as possible to reduce infection and soften the skin. When your done, try putting a cotton ball right under the nail to lift it and help the nail grow out straight. Good luck!
