For what occasion?
Honestly, you can do whatever you want with your makeup, it's your face :)
As far as what would be more flattering, if there is a shimmery blush-like product you would like to use, I would say it's fine as long as it's not overly shimmery and will make you look like a glitterball. Also if you're oily, I wouldn't recommend doing it.
