It's all about preference. Almost all gurus use different cameras. I know saturdaynitesalright uses a canon t3i, but that's the only one I know.

Usually it's a dslr. 80% use the can Ti versions T3i or T5i. Nikon D600's, and the Nikon P500 series. The prices usually range from 350 to 1200.

I just started my channel (Jennbmakeupmagic) and I am still figuring it out, I have an hd video camera and lighting kit. I try to film near my window during the daylight, it seems to be the best light. Most gurus do have videos that explain their set up. Natural sunlight seems to be best. I also had to buy a new computer because hd videos require a high powered computer and won't upload, I use a mac and I love it.

You definitely need a HD camera, good lighting & a simple background. I have a channel & to start off I brought a Canon R40 camcorder.
