I am having gel nail extensions for prom and I don't know what design or style to have.. I was thinking stiletto nails???

Stiletto nails are gorgeous. I suppose which style I'd choose would depend on my dress and hair. Stilettos are quite vampy and may not suit a softer style..but you should wear what makes you happy. I'm a fan of oval nails such as Dita Von Teese wears.. classic pinup with the exception being French nails of which I prefer rounded with a narrowing square tip. As for design, for prom I'd let my nails serve as an accessory to my dress rather than compete with it.
