I'm going to Jamaica (yay) and want to help my dark blond hair get a little bit lighter but I'm only going for 5 days. How can I get highlights/ lighter hair without damage and fast?

No don't put lemon on your hair, it's more drying and less effective than just bleaching your hair. Plus it does nothing but dry out your hair if you don't go out in the sun while it's in.

The only way is to bleach it. If you go to someone who knows what they're doing it will be as little damage as possible. There's no way to lighten your hair without some damage.

You can go to a hair salon and ask them to tone your hair instead of using bleach

Sun In works amazing... Brew strong chamomile tea and put a little lemon juice in it, soak your hair completely in this mixture and sit in the sun for as long as you can. If you do this every time after you wash your hair, and you're already a dark blonde you should see a big different in two weeks. Don't forget to use a leave in consider after your hair dries, the lemon juice can be a little drying. If you want a quicker way, John Frieda makes a lightening spray that you can use with heat or sun, and he also makes a "go blonder" shampoo and conditioner which will really help keep the color and make it stand out better. You don't need to bleach it, that's terrible for your hair.

I highly, highly doubt lemon juice is MORE damaging than bleaching your entire head of hair... listen to what Emma R. had to say. Perfect advice! :)

When I was younger I used sun in and lemon juice for a few weeks, and the damage it did to my hair was horrible, it wasn't evenly blonde, the roots were much more blonde than the middle of my hair, the ends were platinum blonde, it was orangey, super damaged and supper frizzy all over. After having to cut my hair super short to get rid of the damage, I waited for it to grow out and bleached my whole head, barely any damage came from it, just a bit dried at the ends, but a trim and a weekly hair mask got rid of most of it. I've bleached my hair 3 times in the past year and it's still way less damaged than I had after using sun in/lemon juice.
