Honestly you shouldnt be raking through your hair anyway...I would try again with a wide tooth comb, holding your hair in a ponytail and only coming out small sections at a time starting at the nape of your neck..after spraying your hair with a diluted conditioner.. if its really severe I would comb starting from the bottom of the knots up..if its hopeless, and they don't try to do the same thing tomorrow, sorry to scare you but they'll probably cut the knots out. watered down conditioner does in fact help to detangle your hair. you don't have any detangling products?

I have super long hair and a son who loves to pull hair so I always keep it up and I feel your pain I do exactly what faye marie b said about holding your hair and combing out small sections it will hurt but it will do the trick if you don't want to cut it and comb lightly and it will take a few minutes to get it all amd start at the bottom of the hair your holding good luck and try it dry first and if that still isnt working take a shower and keep your conditioner on for a little longer than usual and wash it out and try the same thing

My hair is very thick, and this happens much too often on me. Take a LOT of comditioner or coconut or olive oil and smear it on. It will definitely feel greasy. Start by separating the know as much as you can, and brush each part you pull off. It will hurt, but it will be worth it. When you are done, rinse it out.
