When I lightened my hair I went to Sallys and they explained what to do, I wanted to lighten my hair from black to blonde so I bleached it (which took a lot) but you can get the peroxide to mix with the sachet. They explained the right percent of peroxide etc, you should go in and ask for advice :)

Or you could use a box dye called colour before, I used it once on dark brownish hair and it turned it a light brown/ginger haha.

Thanks, Beth! I live in BC, Canada, so I don't know if I have a Sally's.

Ah, gutted. They really do help! Sallys is basically just a shop that sells hair products from bleach to treatments, if you have a shop like that where you live maybe go in and ask for advice? I have had some bad experiences with dying my own hair so its best to ask :)

Worse comes to worst..if you have a hot topic go buy lightener feom there. its called white out.. you could do it in one session..it would take around two or so hours though..this product won't kill your hair but I would highly recommend getting conditioner treatments afterwards or some keratin..maybe leave in conditioner..just so your hair won't fall out of your head and will retain a smooth silky feeling.

You're going to have to bleach your hair. Do the back/bottom of the head first as it'll take a littler longer to bleach since it's not exposed to the sun. You add the bleach to the middle then do the ends and you do the roots once you have the bleach everywhere else as it will bleach faster due to the heat from your scalp

The L'oreal quick blue works well for me and my hair is naturally almost a black color. I used a 30 developer on mine

My hair was originally a light brown, but I've been dying it dark brown for a couple years. What developer should I use? 20?
Mar 16, 2014

You could definitely use a 20 but I'd try and foil your hair as it may not be strong enough and you may need to leave it on longer with a 20 just be sure to check on it after the recommended time :)

Is there a 25? Haha, sorry for all the questions.

Not that I know of and no it's okay :) you can definitely try mixing a 20 with a 30 which is what we did at my school :)

Those are highlights..most likely done with foils. I know you don't have money for a salon, but I'd wait until I did. Blonde is so difficult to achieve properly and your hair is gorgeous.

Aw, thanks, Rozberry. I totally agree, and I think I might wait till I can get it done professionally. :)
