I actually really like the Snooki black lotion a lot, I would pick lotion depending on your skin type. If you are fair right now or burn easily, maybe start out with an accelerator or a light bronzer like designer skins luminary (one of my favorites even though I have dark skin), and if you already have some color you could go with a bronzer that's a bit darker such as code by devoted creations or mr big time by designer skin (which smells like a really hot guy but works so well that its okay to smell like one for a little). Both of those two bronzers work very well but can be pricey to buy a bottle at some salons so a cheaper one would be jwoww's one and done which I was very impressed with for the price. Also if you look at lotions online be very careful about purchasing them. Many people will take out lotion and fill it with something cheap so the best thing to do to totally avoid that situation is to buy it in a salon!

@Cheyenne I probably will end up buying it at a salon. My skin is kinda weird, I NEVER had a sunburn in my life. When im laying out in the sun in the summer i usually only get more dark. Im not sure if thats good or if thats bad for tanning. Lol.

"Did you go tanning? You look great!" Is something I usually say to my friends when I notice they have a little more "color" to their skin. I just love the golden bronzed look. I personally feel bronzed tanned skin looks better. It gives the illusion your skin is smoother. Im obviously black, but I have in the past went to a tanning spa to even out my skin and to add that magic glow you get from tanning. This year i tried self tanning lotions and sprays and I love it..

Why would anyone ask a question like that on the internet if they already knew a good source? Plus, medical people seem to have pretty similar opinions on it. It's an obvious fib.

That's how I am so personally I think that's very good for tanning because it allows me to go less frequently but still have color. This way you won't damage your skin nearly as much as someone who is very fair who wants to be dark so therefore tans much more extensively.

This is why I recommend the tanning forum I did.. You will not get negative anti-tanning responses there!;)

Its not. But since you seem to know so much why dont you ask him yourself. Let me know your answer from him, until then i dont wanna waste my time talking to you when youre not helping on my thread. Im not saying my dads a good source, i asked him about it and thats wat he told me. Not everyone in the medical field will have the same exact opinion on it. I done need to prove myself to you, thats not wat i came on here for. Im gonna talk to ones who are actually helping me. Thanks. :)

What do the numbers like on the lotions mean? Like how Brittany said she likes Hemp x25. Im not quite sure what that means or what i need. Lol. Sorry.

@Alyse I bookmarked that tanning forum you gave me and ive been reading up on it a little. It seems really helpful. :)

Haha different company's just put numbers on their different lotions to show which ones have stronger bronzers. So if you want one of the hempz bronzers and you want the strongest one you would choose the one with the highest number. Those vary from each lotion line so never compare the numbers from one lotion to another from a different company

Good I'm glad! I just knew as soon as I saw your post you'd get tons of negative comments and its so not helpful! I think tanning makes people look beautiful and that's my opinion, no one can change that. I saw someone sat they think pale looks better.. I sooo disagree but that's my opinion and they can have theirs. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder;) do what you feel good about! There's so much advice you can get from tanners it's annoying to have to weed thru nasty stuff like "your dads not a dr"... Uhh ok? Lol

As for tanning lotions designer skin has really good skincare. The bronzers are typically light. It all depends the look you want. You should def recommend lotions tho, using a bronzer all the time can cause build up. I'd suggest getting a bunch of diff packets before going to bottles bc you never know what you'll end up loving. There's so much hype behind "fake" lotions online but I've never experienced that. Tanninglotionsupply.com was mentioned, I also want to suggest lotions2go.com. That's my fav tanning lotion site, great prices and tons of free samples!

Just to clarify I wasn't saying ladies who tan are less attractive, I was just stating my opinion sorry if I offended anyone I didn't mean it the way it may have sounded :)

@Alyse I didnt even think of trying the little packets before buying a bottle, thats a good idea just so i can kinda get a feel for a few of the different ones.
@Nichole I didnt find anything you said offensive, I value your opinion too because you said it in a nice and mature way and i appreciate it. :)

I live at the tanning salon. It doesn't clear zits. I wish. ALWAYS use a lotion specifically for tanning. Everyone looks better with a tan in my opinion.

It ruins your skin, almost as if it was burning it.

Use Jergens firming lotion. Its a tanning lotion that works really quickly and its amazing. I also use their face cream and i don't break out at all. use it every day for about 3 days and then switch over to every other day.

I used to be obsessed with tanning and had monthly memberships to the tanning salon from the age of 16 until I was 20 years old and at 25, I'm still trying to undo the damage from it. You can have a beautiful tan without harming your skin. Spray tanning is amazing if you go to a good salon for it and there are some fabulous at-home products that you can pick up from your favorite department store or beauty superstore. St. Tropez, Clarins and Xen-Tan all make really easy to use products that will leave you with a gorgeous, natural looking tan. It's nice too because you can control the color level, avoid redness, dark marks, moles, freckles and most importantly, protect your precious skin from cancer.

And as previously stated, it does not correct acne. In fact, it can actually make it worse and drying out your skin won't make it smoother, just exfoliate and moisturize regularly. Be good to your skin and it'll be good back.  :)

I am an esthetician, and sun bathing, tanning, etc. are all one of the number one reasons for premature aging. You can choose to do whatever you like, but I don't recommend tanning in any case. Even when tanning beds don't have the UVB rays (which are the burning rays), they still have UVA rays, which penetrate the deepest into your skin and damage your skin the most. It may all LOOK really good now, but in the long run none of it is good. You should actually be wearing SPF 30 at the least every day, especially if you spend a lot of your day outside exposed to the sun. Self tanning creams and spray tans are probably better until further research is done to prove otherwise.
I agree with Mandi S. from a skin care professional point of view. Once you damage your skin, sweetie, it will never be the same again.

Don't tan! It's horrible for your skin! The healthy amount of sun exposure a day is 15 mins. Always wear sunscreen and if you want to look tanner there are tons of bronzers and self tanners out there! Try Lorac's baked bronzer and tanning lotions or seven nyne's spray tan. I've tried these all and they work really well :) and tanning doesn't clear up acne, it seems like it but it actually makes it worse :O
