There has been a lot of debate about that sponge applicator. I've done research on it and apparently there's a coating on it that is supposed to not hold bacteria, you should be fine using it.

Yes that's the word I was looking for Mari, antimicrobial. I've also been using it for a long time and never had a problem with it.

Yeah I was very skeptical about it, I watched a lot of youtube reviews and did some research and there seems to be no harm in it. I do agree that it can get messy overtime. When I use it I don't really use the sponge to spread it over my face. I put it on certain areas of my face then I blend it using my fingers and keeps the sponge less nasty looking lol.

Wow Shauna that is great information! Thanks for sharing!
It's all the same thing though, palettes... concealer palettes... even skin care products. It's why I wash everything right when I buy it... I don't know who touched it or where it's been before my hands got on it! I always wash/disinfect everything after use too.

Yes definitely always make sure to keep your products clean like Kitty said :)

I wasn't so concerned with the hygenic aspect of it, but personally I just thought the sponge was a weird way to apply makeup and held in lots of old concealer. I just ripped it off, too messy.

Never used it but can't it still be cleaned like wash it and let it dry? like any other sponge ex like the beauty blender?

Yea I would never use it anyway because it's Maybelline and their face stuff is awful to my skin. But I wouldn't ever use something I couldn't clean thoroughly afterwards.

Lol. Then don't use the sponge. I took it off cos I didn't want to use it to apply my make up and I use my brush. Easy peasy.
