Why do people say don't contour with bronzer and what is the proper product to use for contouring your face? Any good products out there?
Apr 3, 2014
Heather T.
And what is bronzer for?
Apr 3, 2014
Catarina C.
Bronzer is meant to give you a glow, they usually are shimmery as well. They're exactly what the name is, a bronze powder product. There are two products that can be used for contouring: cream sticks and powder.

Okay thank you :) know I know how to use my bronzer and what to contour with

Also bronzer is meant to be out where the sun naturally hits your face where as contouring is placed where the natural shadows of your face are to sculpt that area more ideally to make the area look more defined/slimmer.

You can also use foundation liquid for contouring as well.

You need a matte brown powder or a dark shade of foundation X.

Sorry if this is a dumb question , but would a matte bronzer work?
Apr 3, 2014
Catarina C.
Probably not because bronzer typically has a bit more warmer tone to them. Sometimes a slightly orange tone.

@ Jolene no , Bronzers are warm toned meant to give a Sun kissed look. you would need a cool grey toned product. shadows are not orange they are grey. and you can use bronzer it just wouldn't give the same effect as a contour product.

And contour products have a more neutral/grey tone to them which is more natural to mimic that of a shadow

Thank you two for explaining it to me (:

People don't recommend using bronzer simply because it just isn't a contouring agent. When contouring you want to get the effect of a shadow, therefore you need matte grey toned cool colors. Bronzers are 99% if the time warm, irangey, shimmery powders. Bronzers are meant to be applied to the point of your far that hit the sunlight first for example your forehead, the tops of your cheeks, nose, and chin. Contouring agents are meant to be applied in the spits on your face where when applied correctly it glcan give the face a more oval shape. I know the you can buy many contouring powders and kits out there. Lili recommends the Kevyn Aucoin contouring powder, and if she recommends it it must be good. You can also use darker foundation to contour as long as they are cool toned and blended well.
Hope this helped doll!!:)))))

^^ exactly what the ladies above said.
as for what products to use, you can either invest in a good quality contouring powder like the Anastasia Contouring Kit or the Kevin Aucoin Sculpting powder. if you're newer to makeup, I would start out with just a regular cool toned pressed powder that's about 1-2 shades darker than your skin tone. you can also use a foundation or concealer to contour with, it just takes a little more practice & skill to get the hang of.. in my opinion :p
