What I would do when I was practicing is take a pencil eyeliner and just very faintly make the "wing". If I messed up it was very easy to just remove it and try again. You can also hold up a piece of paper or a credit card to get that perfect straight line. I would then go over it with a felt tip liquid eyeliner which in my opinion is easy to work with for beginners.

You can also put a piece of tape where you want the bottom of the line to be (if that makes sense). Use short strokes to get it just right!

It takes practice & everyone's eye shape is different so you have to do what works for your eyes. What may look good & work on someone might not look as good on you.
