My husband is in the business. Without boring you to tears and keeping my response from turning into a book length epic saga...its going to take a whole lot of money. He manufactures and formulates products for private label and consults for big mainstream brands and the biggest expense (s) come from formulating and marketing. I don't dabble too much in his inner workings of his business because it makes my head spin but I know just produce a line of lipsticks run in the thousands (in the $10-15k range). Not to discourage you in any way whatsoever it definitely takes one with a large following of fans if you're already an established MUA artist or esthetician. Skincare is even more pricier than makeup when it comes to starting up a line. For funding I would check out SBA (Small Business Administration). I don't know what they are currently offering but when I first started my own business years ago I went thru them because they had a program for women business owners. I already had funds saved up but I just needed a lil bit more to put in with the big dogs to gain contracts. They also have a great counseling/mentoring program for business start-ups.
