Can I use this honey for a cinnamon/honey facemask? Can you think of anything else I could put in besides lemon? (I have really brutal acne scars) Thanks!

Thank you Jacqlyn! I've thanked you so much, I don't even have to check to spell it right! Hahaha, I just heard adding lemon would lighten my scarring. Do you have any other suggestions?

Well, I put the honey and cinnamon on my face, and had a really bad allergic reaction. :(

You poor thing! I hope you feel better soon! May I ask what the ratio of cinnamon to honey you are using? I'm noticing that this is a trending DIY masque so we should make sure all the correct ingredients and usages are being communicated. Cinnamon can be quite harsh on the skin when not used sparingly or properly.

Hi there!
I apologize for your reaction!
Just a head up before trying out any DIY Mask..

Cinnamon is an irritant and has NO benefit to the skin. It does not cause blood circulation that redness that people mistake it for is your skins way of telling you it's irritated. Anything that gives your skin a cool, tingling, warm feeling is your skins way of telling you it's irritated.
Lemon/Lime/Citrus fruits whether it be in a form of oil or diluted with water should NEVER EVER EVER be used on the skin.
This stuff is strong enough deteriorate your TEETH. Why would it be necessary to put it on your face which is very very delicate?
It's simply misinformation that spreads like wild file.

For DIY masks I recommend that you look up Veronica Gorgeoise.
She is a skin esthetician who can go well into depth about all these 'DIY' ingredients that should never be used on the skin.

I hope you get well soon love ❤❤❤

There was just an editorial about how good cinnamon is for your beauty routine... Huh.

Cinnamon does help to reduce sebum production which is the gross stuff found inside a blemish and can be found in very small amounts in various skin care products. Cinnamon is also a primary ingredient in many lip plumpers so if you've ever used one and felt the redness, and plumping sensation from a lip plumper, I'm sure you can only imagine what that would feel like all over your skin which is why we always recommend spot testing first for any reactions as you know now :(.

In your case, it sounds like controlling sebum production isn't your main concern and that you're looking for more of a DIY mask for your residual scarring, am I correct? You can look up various DIY exfoliating masks but easiest thing to do? Pick up a bottle of Vitamin E at your local pharmacy...take a needle and pop open one of the vitamins and use it as a masque or night time serum. Your skin will feel soft and supple and the scarring will fade with time.

I hope that helps!

Honey and Cinnamon are both highly acidic so the reaction on your skin looks normal! In order to balance out the acidic properties, please remember to add a spoonful of something basic such as plain yogurt or milk! Cinnamon can be antiseptic and anti inflammatory BUT only if the acidic properties are balanced out :) Whisk a tiny drop of olive oil and plain yogurt and dab it on your face. It'll take down the redness, and help calm your skin :) My favorite way of lightening scars has been the oil cleansing method! Look into it or ask me about it if you'd like to know more! :D
A much better way of using that honey and cinnamon is to boil it in some water, stick a tea bag in it, and sip away :)
