Has anyone used thumbtack for makeup gigs? Is it reliable?

I hate it. I've only booked one gig through it. Basically you have to pay 3$ to even give someone a quote, and your obviously not guaranteed to get to get the job. I only submit quotes occasionally when I see something that sparks my eye. It's just been a waste of money for me!
