Hi, I'm helping out some friends in a show next month and I'm not really sure what foundations to use... I don't want to buy top range expensive things bcuz its not really going to be very used. its likely to need to be quite thick/full coverage and matte so that it stays put and doesn't shine under the lights but I don't really know where to start. does anyone have any stage makeup tips pleeeease?
much appreciated, thanku, H

I find that because Revlon Colorstay is so full coverage and has matte finish, it looks good on stage for me, and that's while I'm dancing and it doesn't come off when I sweat and doesn't make me look shiny:) Plus its super cheap!! I'd also set it with a powder just to ensure that it doesn't look shiny on stage. Also make sure you choose a foundation a shade lighter than the person's skin tone so it doesn't look too dark on stage. There are some blogs on the internet that can walk you through the entire stage makeup process, I'll try to find you some links. I wish I could just show you haha but I don't want to type it all up on one post.:P

When I was in ballet and performing, we were required to use Max Factor, the kind you used with water. We also used blue eyeshadow to help the eyes stand out. We also did the top and bottom winged eyeliner with the white in the middle. And of course falsies!!

Hey I use mac full coverage cream foundation and if anything definitely go a little darker as the lights do wash you out :)

A shade darker makes sense, its 1930s style makeup and obviously for stage it has to be more heavy handed to stand out but I'm not really sure what to accentuate or how.. I'm looking for cheap so I might do the Revlon as Mac is just out of my pricerange and its only for a week of shows. thanku for all the input if anyone has any good 1930s style pics to share please do :) thanku xx

Ahh I'm so sorry! Yes @Jacqueline H. its not supposed to be a shade lighter, I'm sorry haha! its supposed to be a shade darker:) Because yes, being on stage can wash you out so choose one shade darker, unless you have a darker complexion then it can match you:)
