I'm planning on going tanning for the first time soon, and I'm really pale. I know literally nothing about tanning beds so any tips are 👍

I started going to tan myself recently cause spring is here and I was, as you said , really pale. I am currently at my 5th session. I don t know if there is a difference between tanning beds in here and the ones where you live.. but : it s recomandable you start with low timing. I starded going for 5 min the first two sessions to let my skin to get used to it and then you add 2 more min each session. it s not much.. and you ll need time to see a big differece but... it s safer this way. you need to be carefull with your skin.

Tanning beds are provided with coolers and you can adjust it on your pref. about lotions I don' t now what to tell you. in my city the tanning salons will sell you lotions. they are good for the hidration of your skin and accelerate the process of tanning. I haven t heard anyone complaining about taning beds. and in my city almoast everyone goes there.

Instead of tanning beds I recommend "St. Tropez" tanning spray and "XEN-TAN" lotion I am very pale also and this works great and it doesn't put you on risk of skin cancer in the future.

Start out at only 4 or 5 minutes if you are super fair skinned. Do that for 2 or 3 days then move up a minute or 2 more. I always had to go very slowly or I would just burn.
Always moisturize!

Make sure you're aware of the health risks tanning beds can cause. Can you tan naturally? Many pale people that don't tan well naturally (like myself) are really not recommended for tanning beds. Some people can't produce enough melanin in their skin so they usually get red after being in the sun. If you're like this I highly suggest you don't tan because you're at a huge risk of skin cancer.

I agree, you should try sunless tanning first. Skin cancer is on the rise and it's usually pretty preventable. Sunless tanning is probably going to be a lot faster too depending on what product you get.

I am pale/blonde and I went on the sun beds for 3 minutes (lowest amount of time you can have where I stay) every second day for 3 session and I was so burnt, sore and peeling for a while, I don't recommend it if you don't tan easily in the sun x

My best friend who is fair skin like me and was never a sun goddess got the second to worst stage skin cancer. They told her she only had 5 years to live. She beat cancer though! Just be careful with tanning beds... Is beauty really worth the risk?

Also piping in to recommend that you steer clear. It doesn't matter what skin tone you have, or if you tan well naturally. Anyone can get skin cancer from any exposure to UV rays.
Tanning beds are dangerous. Period. You are exposing your entire body to radiation. Would you lie in a nuclear reactor, even just for five minutes? Of course not! Anyone who claims that tanning isn't dangerous is trying to sell you something.
A tan is the skin reacting to cellular damage. This damage is the result of ultraviolet radiation damaging the structure and DNA of your cells, and is the cause of skin cancer. Any tan (even if you don't burn, or a burn that doesn't become a tan) can lead to cancer.
I have had two kinds of skin cancer from normal sun exposure. I have to undergo costly scans and exams every month to make sure it hasn't returned or metastasized. Just because it starts on the skin doesn't mean it isn't serious.
With all the advances in sunless/spray tans, there is NO excuse to risk your life for vanity.

I recommend tanning lotion over ramming beds. Beds are just so dangerous.
