I'm certified in chemical peels and advanced peel procedures ,they are really great to have if you have the skin type that can tolerate it it can brighten pigmentation smooth fine lines and help with acne scarring, but it has to be the right depth peel for your skin and deep peels are very painful an take weeks to heel a light peel is better if you don't have extremely bad skin issues, and deeper skin tones have to be careful using chemical peels if it's not done by a professional that knows what there doing because if they use one to strong it can strip the pigmentation from the skin and also not recommended for keloid skin

They are wonderful if you are in licensed, reputable and experienced hands. They treat acne, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, dark spots, fine lines, dullness... so many wonderful changes with little to no down time. Most are non invasive and result in redness and peeling...sort of like a light sunburn. Certain peels are done over a series of consecutive weeks (once a week) while others are a quick trip to an Esty in a spa and are more simple than a facial. A Derm or Esthetician accesses your needs, skin health and sensitivity and advises accordingly. This applies to light or medium level peels. I know nothing of deep peels. other than they look scary..lol

After getting one done you definitely have to incorporate spf to protect the skin as its healing or else you'll just be wasting hard earned money because going without it will reverse all the great results.

Maan that's a lot going to a derm. I didn't know it'll be that much. I'm scared to get something like this done at a spa. I'm going to do research then. thank you very very much Traci:)

@Mary how often do you use yours?

If your getting a light enzyme peel or a low level glycolic you can get it done at a spa they do them all the time and they are lisenced, but anything deeper I would go to a medi spa which has derms on staff or a dermatologist office or you can use at home gentle peels like the one Mary posted weekly to slough off old dead skin if your nervous about chemical peels but its just not as noticeable and works over time

At home peels are amazing and affordable, but you really have to know your skin to find a right fit. Light peels in a spa are seriously no biggie. If they have licensed and trained staff, it's a breeze.

I've never had a chemical peel. My skin is very fair and that's the main reason I haven't yet. From what I've just read it sounds like I don't have much to be concerned about if it's done the right way. Hmm, I'm in L.A. Maybe I'll need to visit Traci in NY as well lol. How about a group shopping trip? Sounds awesome to me!

Count me in that shopping trip! I'll have to do some research on that peel because my skin is so sensitive. I want to do a light one before summer at the derm so I'm kind of torn. I have a pumpkin PTH light peel but it's ineffective...as much as I love his line. Thanks, Mary.
