Hakuhodo's J5523, It is cheaper than the 217, and is even better! And I'm not just saying that about the price, if they were the same, I would still the hakuhodo!

I think I did something bad to my 217. It's coarse, like kind of spiky, I don't remember it always being that way? It's not supposed to be like that, right?

Bree the 217 shouldn't be coarse. It should be soft but firmer towards the tip. Try washing it then gently shape it and lay flat to dry.
Definitely agree with the ladies on the 217. It's all you could want in an eye brush (I use it for concealer and contouring smaller areas too).

Amanda, I think I damaged it somewhere along the way? It looks like I damaged the bristles. But I can't think of how I would have done so. Oh well, I just wanted to check because I thought I needed a new one.

Love my 224 and 217. If I had to pick I favor the 224. Allthough I LOVE using the 217 to blend out my cream nose contour!
