GossMakeUpArtist suggested that you powder your face with a loose translucent powder BEFORE applying foundation to get it to last longer and such. Has anyone tried this?? I'm soooo curious to see if it works or if it just cakes on the face. Next time I have a day off, I'm so trying this but until then what do you guys think?

Worked really well for me when I tried it, my foundation looked awesome, but I didn't use heaps of powder, only a little bit quickly dusted over my face.

This is the answer Jacqueline H. ( Make up artist & beautylish moderator ) gave when I forwarded this question to her when someone else made the same thread..

Here's my take on that. If you have very oily skin, applying a very light dusting of loose powder prior to foundation does on some level help absorb extra oil and keep the makeup set longer. I would not use this application method on anyone that did not have very oily skin because the foundation clumps and ends up looking patchy and dry. For stage work, way back in the day, if I was using something like Stein's Clown White, I powdered the face proper to its application because Stein's is an old school oil based makeup wherein if one did not lay powder down first, that product would break like crazy especially when exposed to extreme heat.
