It creates a barrier between your skin and foundation and it creates a smoother base for your foundation it also makes your foundation last longer.

Primer gives a smoother skin for makeup. Even if your foundation goes cakey you can use a specific primr for this purpose and for oily skin you can use a primer which stops oil being visibl on your face. (:

Like the other girls said it creates a barrier, make makeup stay on longer and makes your face smoother for foundation but there are also colored primers that help your even our your skin tone. an example would be a coral colored primers makes your skin brighter and a green evens out red skin. definitely something to search up and invest time into.:)
