Yes, I feel your pain...lol I gave up on cutting my own long ago! I just feel a rounded, higher bang would open up your face and permit your brows to frame your face. Bang trims at a salon are cheap cheap cheap. You're worth it! You can always curl/bump your bangs to see if a shorter bang would suit you. :)

Yes! You can see your brows! You may also want to try whisping a section of them slightly to soften them up. I sometimes take a thin layer of bangs and fan them to the side...while leaving the layer of bangs beneath them straight. It adds some volume and movement to the bangs without having to cut them. I use either my fingertips or a very thin comb...like a rat tail comb and then spray it with a flexible hairspray.

I think showing your brows make a huge difference. Did you cut them or bump them with a slight curl under?
