3 girls asked me to do their makeup for prom, I was wondering how much the average price for prom makeup is going for now. It would be all out makeup, lashes glitter everything! The only thing is they live out of state, therefore I will have to travel about 100 miles there and 100 miles back.
So I will have to charge a little extra because of that. How much would be a reasonable amount PER PERSON. Please help me out!! I always tend to under charge people because I'm too nice haha.

I would say 25, each?

NOT 25 each! Since it's so far out and with your skill set I would say at LEAST 75+

I know! Especially in my truck, it's a gas guzzler. I have done prom makeup before, but it was all locally. I charge $30 - $35 each locally. That's going all out, lashes, glitter, all high quality professional makeup. But since it's going to cost me at least $60 in gas and tolls. I'm kind of stuck because I don't want it to cost me money to do it. But they're all so excited about it I don't wanna be a debbie downer and tell them no haha.

Scratch that I say 85+

If it's 60 as travel charges do that plus your regular price so about 90-95

That's the range I was looking at Bekah! Do you think that's over charging them though? I never really had to travel so far to do prom makeup that's why I'm so stuck on prices! But if I did charge them $75- $85 - $ to whatever I would definitely make a profit. AND I have to take off work also, SO I'd be losing money that way too haha.

Charge a 100, if your missing work, your gas, and tools. They should understand.

Because of gas I would say charge between $90-$100. Explain to them that it needs to be that much since they need to compensate the high end products you use and the gas and time you're putting into this. You want to make money, don't give away your talent for free!! That's the first thing I learned in school :p

Thank you all sooooooooooo much! I feel like I'd be so lost without beautylish and all the help I get from all of you! This helped me out so much. I'm definitely not charging any less than $75 now that I have some other opinions on it. (:

I did have this posted before but didn't have much feedback on it because I posted it at like 1 in the morning haha. But thank you all very much! I extremely appreciate it! (:

You are an artist! And a very good one at that! I would say 90-100 is a good price range. You get what you pay for. These girls should drive to YOU if they want a cheaper option! They have to understand you have bills to pay and food to buy! You are talented! Your prices are fair!

I think $70 each if not a little more.

Usually I charge anywhere between 65-85 depending on the look, and that's locally. If I were traveling over 100 miles I'd definitely bump that up to 100 or even more. Usually the brides where I work pay anywhere between 150-200.

I'm so glad to hear all your opinions! At first I was planning on only charging them about 45 each. But after I calculated everything I realized it would have costed me money to do it. I feel a lot better now knowing if I charge them in the $75 - $100 range it's reasonable, and I can make a profit off it. You all are amazing and so much help! Thank you!

15 or 20?

$20? You can't even get a quality extra large pizza for that! lol Charge by the hour..including your drive time. Weigh it against other skill based services to put price into perspective. For example, I pay $60 for just my Brazilian...and I am not of a hairy people. :p.
